cirila, Feb 25thS.E.N resource. Having a visual alongside the word will be great for the children I am working with .Initially I will have both word and picture together. Then eventually just the picture with the children inserting the word. The children I am currently working with find it difficult to blend words but memorise them.I am hoping this will assist them.

This resource has many uses. For example to consolidate recognition of the five vowels, help with spelling basic CVC words, speaking and listening regarding the pictures, colours, facial expressions, as an introduction to topics such as going on holiday, post card writing, discussions around pets and wildlife. I would also use it as a picture and word association game. bag-plane, towel-sun and get the children to explain their choices. They could also be used for small pieces of descriptive writing. what is it? What does it look like? Where does it live? What happens next? Where will it go? What does it make you think off? ETC:

Once children are confident, challenge them, leave a 1, 2,or 3 minute timer and see who can write the most in that time. For those who have difficulty with writing leave on magnetic whiteboard with magnetic letters so that they too have a chance of succeeding.daisygirl, Jun 22nd-

cjaiyeob, Jan 20thI use these to help my daughter (autistic/home educated) to practice her CVC spelling and letter formation, as she has trouble with sizing of letters having the boxes is a great aid for this. I have also printed four pages on one page (that works out as 8 pictures on one sheet) at a reduced size to help practice the smaller letter sizing.

Dolphin24, Jan 5thThis looks like a wonderful resource to improve cvc spelling efforts with my Kindergarteners. They are exceptional readers, but are not yet transferring that information into their journals. I intend to make a game of this using scrabble letters in one of my stations. I have other vowel based games for them to use, too. Thanks so much!
mrsjloves2teach, Jan 4thGreat resource! Just a little silly question...there are three very similar pictures - just the face of a boy with glasses, a full-length picture of a boy and a picture of three boys' faces...is the CVC word BOY each time?
yamini_r, Jan 4th-
don't know if they got back to you, but from my American perspective I would say the picture of the male face with glasses is a "man", the boy standing is a "lad" and the three males with glasses are "men". Also the girl sitting is a "gal" and the faucet is a "tap". I think the crib would be called a "pen" ? Not sure about that one, but I noticed in another post that the clothespin is called a "peg".
mrsjloves2teach, Jan 4th -
Hi there yamini_r and mrsjloves2teach, thanks for your comments! I have asked our head resource designer the answer to your query and I will be in touch shortly with the answer! :)
sophie.h-Twinkl, Jan 5th
-
Thanks sophie.h@twinkl...have not checked my email recently, will do so now.
mrsjlovestoteach, good suggestions...though I assumed the girl sitting was plainly "sit" and what you call a crib is commonly known as a cot in British English. I'm used to using the words "tap" and "peg" :) Funny how English isn't English everywhere in the world :Dyamini_r, Jan 6th

cheriewren, Dec 15th-
Hey there Cheriewren, thanks for commenting! As twinkl are based in England, unless we have make an American alternative our resources will be created with British-English. The CVC word for the clothespin would be 'peg' :)
